A case has been filed against 30 people including former Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh in connection with the 2023 fire incident in Bangabazar in the capital.
The case was filed at Shahbagh Police Station on Friday (November 22). The police submitted a report to the court in this regard on Saturday (November 23).

The complaint states that Bangabazar in the capital was deliberately set on fire two years ago. A person named Kamal Hossain Ripon, a resident of Mirpur area, filed the case at Shahbagh Police Station on Friday, alleging damage of Tk. 500 crore on behalf of the victims.
The police sent the case report to the court on Saturday. In which the reason for the delay in filing the case was mentioned.
The case names 18 people including former Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh, South City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman, former MP Afzal Hossain, former ward councilor Farid Uddin Ratan, Awami League leaders Atiqur Rahman, Zahirul Islam, Mohan Dhali, Monowar Hossain Monu, Lokman Khan, Belayet Hossain, Rubel, Humayun Kabir, Shahabuddin, Abdul Hannan, Hasan.
