New Delhi has expressed regret over the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala, India.
India's Ministry of External Affairs expressed this regret in a statement on Monday (December 2).
Attacks on diplomatic installations are not acceptable in any way, the statement said. Assurance of action against those responsible.
It is also said that the government is taking measures to strengthen the security arrangements of Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and Deputy/Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in India.
Earlier, members of a Hindutva association vandalized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala on Monday. The protest rally took place in front of the Gandhi statue located at Circuit House in Agartala. Later, a six-member delegation from the protest rally went to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission and submitted a memorandum.
At one point, the angry members of the association entered the Assistant High Commission and pulled down the national flag of Bangladesh and tore it. Later, they broke the signboard in front of the building and set it on fire.
A woman member of the association told local media Jagrantripura that Hindus are constantly being tortured in Bangladesh. Moreover, Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested without reason. They vandalized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission today in protest.
In this regard, the executive member of the association BK Roy said that they did not see what happened outside the Assistant High Commission and even after they came with a deputation, they did not see anyone inside the office.
