Former BGB DG Mainul Islam detained at airport while travelling to Canada

The Immigration Police have detained former Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Mainul Islam while he was travelling to Canada with his wife.

He was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 24) evening.

A police source confirmed the matter.

On February 25, 2009, 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in the BDR mutiny and the brutal massacre in Peelkhana. Mainul Islam took charge of the force's Director General within 48 hours of the incident.
