Dhaka: The 21st founding anniversary of Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) was observed here on Saturday (March 16) at Bangladesh Institute of Strategic Studies (BISS).
After cutting the cake a new website of DCAB was inaugurated. DCAB had begun its journey on March 16 of 1998. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriyar Alom handed over crests to the founding members.
Founder president and also the Editor –in- chief of Barta24.com Alamgir Hossain in his speech said that, ‘21 years ago I was very young and full of life . At that age I could have rushed to any place in search of news.’
Speaking on the necessity of DCAB he told that without prior experience in foreign affairs news cannot be covered. So there must be an organization through which relations with the diplomats could be set up. So we felt the importance very urgently to cover foreign affairs news properly and efficiently. After the establishment of this organization the contacts with diplomats have increased.
As the founder president I continued in the post for five years at a stretch so I strongly want that this organization lasts long with dignity.
BISS chairman ambassador Foez Ahmed said that before liberation under the leadership Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the diplomacy centering Bangladesh started. Diplomacy does not mean professional diplomacy only rather we are supposed to uphold the interest of the country.
Present president Rahid Ejaj and secretary Nurul Islam Hasib also spoke on the occasion.
