Customs intelligence of two countries to meet on Sunday

Dhaka, (Barta24): The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate(CIID) of Bangladesh and its counter part Director of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) of India will hold a meeting to discuss the matters of mutual interests of both the countries.

The two day meeting of Director General(DG) level will begin on March 31 and end on April 1 at Hotel Intercontinental. The meeting will be attended by 13 members team headed by DG of CIID of Bangladesh while the Indian side consisting of 8 members will be led by Chief Director of DRI.

On Thursday the CIID DG Shahidul Islam informed this in a press conference held at the CIID conference room. The press conference was organized in connection with the ensuing meeting of the two countries.

In the press meet Shahidul Islam informed that this meeting is going to be held for the first time. Henceforth it will be held every year to discuss relating to customs intelligence. In the ensuing meeting chairman of National Board of Revenue(NBR) Mosharraf Hossain Bhuyian will be the chief guest.

He said that in the meeting matters of smuggling, money laundering, dodging customs duty and prevention of terrorism along with the protection national interests and wild life preservation will be discussed. Both the countries will take decision to regularly exchange information about the above problems.

Besides, to enhance cooperation between CIID and DRI a number of decisions will be taken. Next the team leaders of both the countries will endorse it.
