CEC distributes smart card in Faridpur

Faridpur (Barta24.com): Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K.M. Nurul Huda inaugurated the distribution of smart cards of Faridpur Sadar upazilla here on Wednesday (April 24) at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner, Faridpur.

Addressing the inaugural function CEC said that this smart card is a great asset both for the nation as well as the citizens of the country. He said that we have built a modern data base depending on very strong technology which inclusively contains detailed information of each voter.

This smart card will come into the help of every citizen of the country in different field of life. The CEC disclosed that the Election Commission (EC) has so far printed 10.5 crore smart cards. He further said that in greater Faridpur so far in 8 upazillas smart cards were distributed out of 29 upazillas. In Faridpur Sadar upazilla 3,36,608 smart cars will be distributed gradually.

K.M. Nurul Huda also said that henceforth all elections will be held with the help of Electronic Voting Machine(EVM) and sought the cooperation of the people in this regard in making EVM program successful.

The function was presided over by Additional District Magistrate Aslam Molla, ADC (Education) Mobassher Hassan, Faridpur Zilla parishad chairman Lokman Hossain Mridha, Faridpur Sadar Upazilla chairman Abdur Razzaq Molla, Additional police super Md. Saifuzzaman and Regional Election Officer Md. Nuruzzaman Talukdar. It may be mentioned here that K.M. Nurul Huda served this district as the Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur from 1992-95 period.

About 46 smart cards were distributed by the CEC later on Wednesday.
