The work of ascertaining the loss inflicted by cyclonic storm Fani has begun at the behest of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina now on a visit to London. The concerned upazilla, district administration, members of Armed force, Naval and Air Force are now engaged in estimating the losses.
The Prime Minister has instructed the concerned officials to provide assistance after ascertaining their losses as quick as possible.
This was informed through a press release on Sunday(May 5) issued from the press wing of the Prime Minister.
In the press release it was told that Sheikh Hasina has prayed for the salvation of the departed souls who were killed by Fani and expressed her sympathy to the bereaved families who lost their kith and kin. The Prime Minister has also called upon the party leaders and workers to lend their helping hand to the victim families along with the government agencies.
It is learnt that meanwhile all government agencies have already started the work of ascertaining the losses of property, homesteads, crops and lives due to the impact of Fani. The Armed forces, Naval and Air forces personnel have already arrived in the affected areas. The Air force helicopters are surveying the coastal areas to ascertain the losses.
On the other hand Prime Minister’s principal secretary Md. Nozibur Rahman held a review meeting with the high officials of PMO. He gave the directives to the high officials of PMO to keep all time contact with the concerned administrative officials of the districts and upazillas for taking necessary measures.
He also instructed the PMO officials to ask the field officials to follow the standing rules of disaster management.
It may be mentioned here that on Saturday the cyclone Fani after becoming very weak had crossed Bangladesh main land. Yet it inflicted some damages in South Western coastal districts causing destruction of homesteads, uprooting of trees and damage to standing crops.
