800 people shifted to safe shelter in Teknaf

Eight hundred people living in the risk of Teknaf hill sliding due to heavy rain fall have been shifted to safe shelters.

On Tuesday night (Sept.10) till 12 P.M. these people were taken to safe shelters.

U.N.O of Teknaf Md. Rabiul Hassan informed barta24.com about it. He said that as the heavy rain fall was continuing so these people numbering about 800 were in risk of hill sliding disaster so they have been shifted. The shifted people were given shelter at Maimuna government primary school adjacent to Upazilla parishad complex. The number of children and women is large.

He said that at night they were fed with ‘Khichuri’. Besides, they were given biscuits and blankets. They will also be fed with ‘Khichuri’ in the morning.

All who are still living in the risky places at the base of hill will be shifted, he informed.

Meanwhile the marine drive road at Himchari point has been cleared and opened to traffic after it was blocked due to hill erosion caused by rain fall.
