Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said no one has the right to kill anyone for having opposite opinions.

He made the remark following allegations that BUET Chhatra League leaders killed the university's student Abrar Fahad Muzahid on suspicion he is a Chhatra Shibir activist.

Fahad, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET [Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology], was found dead in the stairway in the early hours of Monday (Oct 7).

Talking to newsmen at his Secretariat office at noon, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said, “I’ve talked to the IGP [Inspector General of Police] about the matter. I’ve advised him to discuss it with the prime minister.”

“What I understand is that no one has the right to kill anyone for having opposite opinions. So law will take its own course here. Action will be taken against those found guilty in investigation,” he added.

Quader said, “BNP is alleging that the country has been sold to India during the prime minister’s visit to New Delhi. Should we kill the party for making such allegation?”

Police have meanwhile arrested Mehedy Hasan Russel and Muhtasim Fuad, leaders of Chhatra League, student front of the ruling Awami League, to interrogate them over the murder of Fahad.
