Medical board formed for Samrat

National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases has formed a seven-member medical board for the treatment of Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, the expelled Jubo League leader of the Dhaka City South unit, who is now serving a six-month imprisonment.

The medical board will be headed by the director of the hospital, Afzalur Rahman.

Dr. Afzalur Rahman on Tuesday afternoon said the reports of the tests that have been carried out since the morning suggests his physical condition is now quite good. However, since he has heart diseases, we have kept him under observation for 24 hours. After 24 hours, his conditions will be be briefed again.

Earlier, around 6am on Tuesday, police took Samrat to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj as he felt sick. There he was diagonsed with cardiovascular problems. Later he was admitted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.

On October 6, the RAB detained him from Kunjushripur village under Alkara union of Chouddagram in Comilla. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for illegally possessing skin of two wild animals in his office.

Later, on Monday, Ramna Police Station showed him arrested in two cases under Arms and Drugs Acts and pleaded for 20-day remand for questioning him.
