The government has appointed Nahida Sobhan, director-general of the UN wing of the Foreign Ministry, as the new ambassador of Bangladesh to Jordan.
She is the first female ambassador of Bangladesh appointed in the Middle East region.
Nahida Sobhan is a professional diplomat. She is of the 15th batch of Foreign Service Cadre of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
In diplomatic life, Nahida Sobhan acquired various competencies in Bangladesh missions in Rome, Kolkata and Geneva.
Nahida Sobhan holds a Masters Degree in English Literature (MA) from Dhaka University. She is trained in Public International Law at The Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands and obtained a Diploma in International Relations from the Institute of Public Administration, Paris, France. She is fluent in French, English and Bengali.
