Dhaka: The Prime Minister is working tirelessly to make Bangladesh a corruption-free, drug-free country. We are working on the principle of zero tolerance to make the Bangladesh Police ‘drug free and corruption free’ to build a drug free country as directed by the Prime Minister. No member of the police will take drugs, will not be involved in drug business and will not have any relationship with drugs. The police will be drug free.
We want to make Bangladesh 'drug free'.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed made the remarks while exchanging Eid greetings with police officers and forces at SI Shiru Mia Auditorium of Rajarbagh Police Lines on Saturday (August 1) morning, the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
"We are working to bring police services to the doorsteps of the people through bit policing," he said. We want to be with the people as their police.
The IGP said the police should exercise their legal capacity and be motivated by human values without using physical force.
Highlighting the unique contribution of the police in providing security, legal and security services to the people during the current corona period, the IGP said the police have set an unprecedented precedence in the welfare of the people in the last three months. The police have earned the trust, respect and confidence of the people. The police have a place in the jewel of their hearts. When you love people, you get the love of people.
He said the hon'ble Prime Minister is working in the belief of building Bangladesh as a developed modern country through the implementation of Vision 2021 and 2041. There are only 21 years left until 2041. We are working with the aim of building a suitable police force in developed countries within this period.
The IGP paid deep respects to the martyred police personnel who sacrificed their lives from Covid-19 while corona duty. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
Additional IGs, heads of various police units in Dhaka, senior police officers and members of the police were present on the occasion.
