Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said, ‘BNP founder and late president Ziaur Rahman is just a footnote of history, footnote can never be a hero of history. The reader of the declaration of Independence can never be its announcer.’
Obaidul Quader made the remarks at a view exchange meeting with Barisal Road Zone, BRTA and BRTC officials at noon on Wednesday (August 19). The general secretary of Awami League joined the meeting via video conference from his official residence.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam has accused the ruling party of belittling Ziaur Rahman. In response to such allegations, Obaidul Quader countered that betrayer Mustaq made Ziaur Rahman army chief after the assassination of Bangabandhu who gave the killers jobs in different embassies.
The general secretary of the Awami League said, Bangabandhu was excluded from the textbooks by distorting history. At that time, Ziaur Rahman forced the new generation to learn wrong history.
History moves at its own pace, criminals once had to stand on the fence of history, history does not forgive anyone, he said.
Later, on the occasion of National Mourning Day, Obaidul Quader joined the discussion meeting and distribution of Corona materials organized by the Awami League's Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue through video conference.
At that time, he said, 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed a relief committee under the leadership of Awami League after the war of liberation. In the same way, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, has continued relief activities across the country by forming relief committees as usual in the days of the Corona pandemic as well as the disaster increased.
