Bangladesh Awami League has finalized 64 mayoral candidates in the pourashava elections to be held in the third phase.
At a meeting of the party's Local Government Representative Nomination Board on Saturday (December 26) afternoon, a total of 64 candidates from eight divisions were announced as the party's mayoral candidates.
A meeting of the party's Local Government People's Representative Nomination Board was held at Ganobhaban under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina. Members of the Nomination Board, including General Secretary Obaidul Quader, took the final decision on the selection of candidates.
From this meeting, mayoral candidates have been finalized in 4 pourashavas in Rangpur division, 12 in Rajshahi division, 9 in Khulna division, 8 in Barisal division, 12 in Dhaka division, 8 in Mymensingh division, 3 in Sylhet division and 8 in Chittagong division.
