Road Transport and Bridges Minister on Tuesday said BNP is planning to organize mass upsurge to topple the government which is not only impossible, but totally unrealistic.

“BNP is planning to organize mass upsurge to topple the government which is not only impossible, but totally unrealistic,” he said.

Quader, also ruling Awami League general secretary, made the observation while addressing a press briefing at his residence in the morning.

“The background in 1990 and in 2021 is not same...so, BNP’s plan of organizing peoples movement aiming to oust government would be a daylight dream,” he said.

Criticizing a remark made by BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that ‘allowing no more time to the government’, Quader also Secretary General of the ruling Awami League asked who is he [Fakrul] to allow government in power?

“the constitution and the peoples of the country have allowed the government in power.  The almighty Allah and the voters are the sole authority to allow someone in power .”

Quader alleged that BNP has made the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) as a political stage and said different social and cultural organizations including the journalists usually organize meeting in the JPC, but BNP has made it a political podium.

“BNP’s political gathering inside the press club is totally illegal and unacceptable,” said the ruling party leader.

In the Union Parishad elections, Quader said some quarters are sending their party candidate’s name illegally from different districts and also sending to the center through hiding information.

Information is being taken in this regard and punitive action will be taken if the allegations prove right, he added.
