Party chief Sheikh Hasina said these things at the party's national election management committee meeting at 3 pm on Friday (November 17).
Sheikh Hasina said that the spirit with which the country was made independent was killed by killing Bangabandhu in 1975. At that time, the murderers were rewarded with various foreign postings and exonerated by promulgating various ordinances. That's when a culture of impunity is created. For 21 years, the people of the country suffered.
Pointing to Ziaur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina said, the man wearing uniform of the Army killed freedom fighters, dismissed general soldiers, and killed Air Force officers. He also became the army chief, president and violated the army law and took away the people's right to vote. In this way the voting rights of the people of the country were snatched away.
She said, our aim was to form the government through voting. Not with arms, not in the dark of night. We made people aware only through long struggle.
she also said that we are the first to take the initiative to ensure people's right to vote. For this, we formulate a law to form the Election Commission. We have made various reforms to ensure voting rights. I have made arrangements to ensure voting rights of the people.
