Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to sit today with the partners of 14 party alliance on seat sharing.
Amir Hossain Amu, coordinator of the 14 party alliance confirmed that the meeting will be held at Ganabhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister, on Monday (December 4) evening.
Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, chairman of the 14-party alliance partner Tariqat Federation, said, "There will be a negotiation in tomorrow's meeting, from there it will be decided who will get how many seats."
14 party alliance led by Awami League participated in the last three parliamentary elections by sharing seats. After getting the confirmation of election in the boat symbol, the alliance leaders submitted the nomination papers.
The party has not allotted seats even though the time for submitting nomination papers has passed. Awami League has given candidates in 298 seats leaving only two seats of partners. However, they will go to the election in an alliance, they have already informed the Election Commission in writing.
The partner parties of the 14 parties have also nominated candidates separately.
In the last election too, Awami League and partners first gave separate candidates. In the end, the ruling party exempted the partners in 16 seats.
Among them, Workers Party got maximum five, JSD and Bikalpa Dhara three each, Tariqat Federation and Jatiya Party (JP) two each and Bangladesh JSD got a grand alliance nomination in one seat.
In the face of the exclusion of BNP-Jamaat and like-minded people, the second main partner of the Grand Alliance in this election, the Jatiya Party is no longer in the alliance. The Jatiya Party held separate elections in 2014 in the 10th parliamentary elections despite BNP-Jamaat's boycott. However, at that time, Awami League did not nominate anyone against Jatiya Party candidates in 34 seats.
There is a question about whether there will be an agreement with the Jatiya Party or not. Awami League has said that they will be happy if Jatiya Party elects as a single force.
Awami League has announced candidates for 298 seats this time. Among the 14 participating parties, only in Kushtia-I2 seat AL did not field any candidate. It has been kept for JSD president Hasanul Haque Inu who already filed nomination on due time.
In the schedule announced by the Election Commission for polling on January 7, the opportunity to submit nomination papers has ended. However, the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers is December 17, so there is a chance to change the candidate, support the coalition.
It will be known on December 17 who will get the nomination of the ruling coalition.
