The 10th phase of the 48-hour blockade program called by BNP on Wednesday and Thursday. The leaders and activists of the party held a torch procession in support of the blockade which started in the morning.
On Tuesday (December 5) night, the torch procession was taken out in the Kuril Biswa Road area of the capital under the leadership of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed.
The BNP and its like-minded parties have been holding programs since October 29 demanding the cancellation of the schedule for the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad(JS) election, the release of opposition leaders and activists including Begum Khaleda Zia and the fall of the government.
As a part of that, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the 10th round of blockade program to prevent the JS elections on Monday. He said that the 48-hour blockade program will be held from 6 am on Wednesday to 6 am on Friday.
On the occasion of International Human Rights Day on December 10, he said that a human chain program will be held across the country with family members of victims of enforced disappearances, arrests and torture.
