Ashraful Hossain alias Hero Alam has announced his withdrawal from the election field in the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections after getting his candidature back in Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituency. He bought nomination papers for the 12th election as a candidate of Bangladesh Congress.
He announced this on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (December 13) night. He also mentioned that he will withdraw his candidature on December 17. However, he did not give any details about why he will withdraw from the election.
Earlier, on December 3, the returning officer announced the cancellation of his nomination papers due to various errors, including not signing the affidavit and other supporting documents. Regarding cancellation of nomination papers, Hero Alam immediately told the journalists present at that time, 'Every year it is cancelled. It is not an issue.'
Later, he appealed to the Election Commission on December 6 to get back the validity of the nomination paper. On December 10, the Election Commission ruled in his favor by allowing the appeal to return the validity of the nomination paper.
It should be noted that Hero Alam participated in the Dhaka-17 seat by-election held in July this year. Apart from this, he participated as an independent candidate in the by-elections of Bogra-6 (Sadar) and Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituencies in February. Hero Alam also contested from Bogra-4 seat in 2018 national election. However, he withdrew from the election after "alleging irregularities".
Hero Alam, a resident of Erulia village in Bogra Sadar used to sell Chanachur as a child. Later he went into CD selling and dish connection business. He started broadcasting on Dish Line by making music videos himself. After releasing about 500 music videos on YouTube, Hero Alam came into discussion on social media and media.
