Partners of 14- party alliance rejected Awami League's proposal regarding seat sharing for the 12th Jatiya Sangsad(JS) elections and demanded reconsideration. Along with that, the independent candidates was also demanded to be withdrawn.
On Thursday (December 14) night, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president Hasanul Haque Inu said, "We are not satisfied with the seat sharing." Therefore, he said that he did not accept the decision of Awami League and sent it back for reconsideration.
Hasanul Haque Inu said that the proposal made by Amir Hossain Amu, coordinator of 14- parties and Awami League advisory council member, is a preliminary proposal, which we have not accepted. I have called for a discussion with the leader for reconsideration.
Commenting on the distribution of seats and independent candidates, Inu said, "We think seats should be increased, independent candidates should be removed." It is recommended that the final discussion and release of the final list be based on an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister.
Earlier on Thursday evening, Awami League decided to distribute seats in a meeting with 14- party leaders at the residence of the alliance coordinator Amir Hossain Amur. It is said that among the alliance partners, Awami League has left three seats to Bangladesh Workers Party, three seats to Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and one seat to Jatiya Party (Monju).
JSD is getting - Kushtia-2, Lakshmipur-4 and Bogra-4 seats. Workers Party is getting- Barisal-3, Satkhira-1, Rajshahi-1. On the other hand, Anwar Hossain Manju of JP is getting Pirojpur-2 seat. However, the alliance partner Tariqat Federation was not given a seat this time. They will all choose the boat symbol. However, Awami League did not meet the demand the withdrawal of their 'independent candidates'. Even if the election is based on the ‘boat’ symbol, the vote war with independent candidates is still going on.
It is known that Rashed Khan Menon in Barisal-3 seat, Fazle Hossain Badsha in Rajshahi-2 seat and Mustafa Lutfullah in Satkhira-1 seat. In these constituencies, instead of party candidates, the Workers' Party will get ‘boat’ symbol.
Hasanul Haque Inu in Kushtia-2 constituency, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen in Bogra-4 constituency and Mosharraf Hossain in Lakshmipur-4 constituency will contest on the boat symbol. Another alliance partner Jatiya Party (Monju) will be given concession to Anwar Hossain Manju in Pirojpur-2 seat.
