He said these things in a public meeting organized by Upazila Awami League at Fazil Madrasa ground at Rajapur Dakbungalow intersection in Jhalakathi on Thursday (December 21) afternoon.
Addressing the Awami League leaders and activists, this former BNP leader said, I am the youngest member of your party. Shahjahan Omar said, in politics, the heart should be large, politics cannot be done with a narrow mind. A boy can make mistakes; he has to have the mindset to adjust. I used to do BNP, many people of the Awami League did my party, for personal relations. Again, now that I am in Awami League, some people from the BNP will come, if you hate them and throw them away, your party will be weak. We want to be stronger.
He said, I believe what Sarfraz Saheb has said. He will accept the people of my former party, as he has accepted me today. Please instruct your unions, wards and other units that if suitable people want to come, I don't want the Ganjam Party either. Those who are respectable, suitable, patriotic, political minded, please accommodate.
Shahjahan Omar said about the foreigners, I despise as a freedom fighter, foreign scoundrels give us advice. Oh, I fought and killed people and liberated the country. Foreign vultures came and advised us, do this, do that, do that. There are no plagues in this country, so vultures have no place either. As much as we can by our own initiative, we may be a little underdeveloped, slowly we will become better and better under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
