Awami League to bring 'Smart Bangladesh' manifesto

Awami League's manifesto has been prepared for the 12th Jatiya Sangsad(JS) Election with the dream of building 'Smart Bangladesh' from Digital Bangladesh. It is also known that the manifesto will have clear directions for the next five years.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present the manifesto at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Wednesday (December 27) at 10:30 am.

According to the manifesto preparation committee sources, this year's manifesto will give special importance to the issue of employment creation and prevention of corruption through the development of information technology. It will also have the promise of job-oriented education, job creation and development to attract the youth.

It is also known that increasing agricultural production, controlling commodity prices, zero tolerance against corruption, building a drug-free country, achieving the goals of sustainable development and building a workforce suitable for the fourth industrial revolution in the country have been emphasized on the formation of an economically self-sufficient Bangladesh.

The manifesto will focus on creating a cashless society, knowledge-based society, entrepreneurship, research and innovation-based education system to achieve economic self-sufficiency. The manifesto also lays special emphasis on completing the ongoing mega projects on time and creating a self-sufficient Bangladesh through the development framework in the next five years.

According to the source, in this year's manifesto, Awami League will emphasize on the formation of smart citizen, smart economy, smart government and smart society in the formation of Smart Bangladesh. Awami League will announce the implementation of this goal by 2041. Through this, citizens will be developed as smart citizens by increasing their digital capabilities; it has been mentioned in the manifesto.

The convener of the Awami League's manifesto formulation committee and presidium member of the party Abdur Razzak said, we have taken the opinion of the general public and representatives of civil society in this manifesto. They suggested economy, infrastructure, agriculture, education, information technology, power generation, increasing productivity, controlling commodity prices. We have taken their opinions seriously.

Awami League Information and Research affairs secretary Dr. Salim Mahmud told Barta24.com that the 15 years of development of our leader, especially infrastructure development, industrialization, investment, how to convert them into public welfare will be in our manifesto this year. There will be a statement that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has all the long-term programs and plans so that people from all levels of the country get all the benefits equally. Employment will be important. Poverty alleviation will be important.

He also said that in the name of Smart Bangladesh, there will be the matter of increasing efficiency in every sector. There will be zero tolerance for corruption. No one is saying that because of our initiative, corruption in the country has been reduced. As the tendering in Bangladesh has stopped, the recruitment trade has stopped. Two major areas of corruption in Bangladesh have been closed due to digitalization. All over the country, the written test has been mastered in all government and private examinations. The control of the written test is not in the hands of the recruiter. There will be this message.

Salim Mahmud said, we are emphasizing employment and entrepreneurship for the young generation in the manifesto. Technology will be integrated into our governance, our development, our welfare. We are going high-tech. Our GDP is primarily contributed by agriculture, service industry and industrialization. We are moving forward in the way that they need to be scientific in terms of their contribution to the emerging economy.

Before this, the Awami League issued a manifesto under the title of 'Day Change Charter' in the 2008 elections. Then in 2014, the party issued a manifesto under the title 'Bangladesh is moving forward', promising to implement 10 mega projects. In the eleventh parliamentary elections of 2018, the ruling party published a manifesto titled 'Bangladesh on the march of prosperity'. This time after being in power for three consecutive terms, the party wants to build 'Smart Bangladesh' with the conviction of being elected for the fourth term.

It is known that the invited guests will take their seats between 9 am and 10 am. The program will begin at 10:28 am with the National Anthem. At 10:30 in the morning, the convener of the Awami League's Manifesto Drafting Committee Abdur Razzaq will give a welcome speech. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader will speak after that. Then party president Sheikh Hasina will read the manifesto.
