Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP said, Rangunia Upazila of Chattogram was a backward town, before 2008 there was no other roads except Chattogram-Kaptai road in this upazila. And now we have to find out which road in Rangunia has not been carpeted. Sometimes I go through different roads to see if there are potholes in the road. These developments and changes have become possible due to the magical leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
The Information Minister said these things in the speech as the chief guest at the election public meeting organized by Padua Union Awami League of Rangunia Upazila of Chattogram on Friday (December 29) afternoon. Acting President of Union Awami League Vice Principal Dulal Kanti Das presided over the public meeting conducted by Union Awami League General Secretary Badiuzzaman at Padua Rajarhat Hospital ground.
Pointing out that his union Padua was a remote township, the Information Minister said, now Padua has been transformed into a modern township. There are four bridges over the Shilak Canal. There was no school, madrasa, college in Rangunia that has not been built. Now every house has electricity. In the last 15 years, I have never seen who belongs to Awami League, who belongs to BNP, or who belongs to any party. The job of the boy who has miked a grain of rice against me has also been done by my hands. As your child, I have worked like a servant for the last 15 years.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that the Awami League government is giving 18 types of allowances for common people including Tk. 15 per kg. rice and Tk. 200 30 kg rice on Eid, Puja and festivals. Thousands of people in every union benefited from TCB products, free books to students. We did not select Awami League-BNP in giving these. The person in need is identified as the beneficiary.
If we give free allowance, give free books, give free rice, build roads, send money to mobile phones, then we won't get the vote? Thousands of people present raised their hands and supported the Information Minister's question.
He said, through our family charity NNK Foundation, I have built 24 new mosques in Rangunia in the last 15 years. Each mosque, temple and pagoda has received multiple development allocations. During the Corona period, I have given relief assistance of about Tk. 2 crore. We are making an orphanage in the upazila headquarters, it has already become four floors, two more floors will be added. I have given Tk. one crore for free. Outside the government, I have built 52 new houses on my own initiative.
He said, I like to go through different roads of Rangunia sometimes, to see if there are potholes in the road. Now the country has changed. 8-10 storey buildings are now in rural areas of Rangunia. All this has not changed by any magic. All this was possible because of the magical leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina.
Dr. Hasan said to the villagers, in the 2008 election, you voted for me and handed me over to Bangabandhu's daughter. The Prime Minister pulled me up. I have made your face shine in the country. As your children, I appeal to preserve that continuity by voting for the boat symbol on January 7. Forgive us if we make mistakes.
