Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the people to vote for the ‘boat’ symbol to give a befitting reply to the brutality of the BNP-Jamaat alliance. She said, January 7 elections will be a milestone in the history of democracy in the country.

On Wednesday (January 3) afternoon, the Prime Minister said this by participating in the election public meeting of five districts and one upazila from the office of Dhaka district Awami League in Tejgaon of the capital.

Describing various brutalities of BNP-Jamaat gang in recent times, including in the railway sector, she said that the people of Bangladesh should answer for the misdeeds of BNP-Jamaat. We will be successful in the January 7 elections and the people will be victorious.

Sheikh Hasina said that she wants the next election to be a truly free, fair and impartial election which will be a milestone in the country's democratic history. She said people will vote for their preferred candidates and make them winners. That is our aim and it will be a milestone in the country's democratic history.

She said that everyone should remember that this election is very important for the country because many people want to play many games with Bangladesh. She further said that those who do not believe in the spirit of the liberation war, those who have banned the 'Joy Bangla' slogan and Bangabandhu's March 7 speech and those who destroy the spirit of the liberation war will destroy the country.

The Awami League president said that the people should peacefully vote for their desired candidates. She said, no one can resist anyone here. I don't want any conflict. She mentioned Awami League's slogan - 'I will vote for whoever I want'. Please vote as you like, but I don't want any trouble. She said that no untoward incident should take place and everyone should show utmost patience. There is no confusion about this.

Regarding the election candidates, she said, although there are Awami League candidates in every constituency, the party candidates have been given the opportunity to compete in the elections.
