BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has called for building a Bangladesh of love and peace, not revenge.
He made this call in a video message at a rally organized in front of BNP's central office at Naya Paltan in the capital on Wednesday (August 7) afternoon.
Khaleda Zia said, we got freedom from the illegal government through long agitation, struggle and sacrifice. Those who fought to the death made the impossible possible. Pay respect to hundreds of martyrs. This victory has brought us new possibilities.
He said, we have to build a prosperous Bangladesh from the ruins of democracy and corruption. Youth is our future. To realize the dream that the youth have shed their blood for, talent, competence, knowledge-based, democratic Bangladesh should be built. A prosperous Bangladesh without exploitation should ensure the rights of all religions and tribes. The hands of the youth should be strengthened to build a modern Bangladesh based on peaceful progress.
He said that we should build a country based on love, peace and knowledge, not on destruction, revenge, or revenge.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia spoke in public after seven long years. Before this, she gave her last public speech on February 8, 2018. After a long time, the leaders and workers of the party were eagerly waiting to hear Begum Zia's speech. Finally, she joined the BNP rally virtually and gave a directive speech.
Incidentally, after being imprisoned for more than two years, Khaleda Zia was conditionally released by the government's executive order on March 25, 2020, with the sentence suspended for six months. After that, her sentence was suspended and her release period was being extended in view of six months of consecutive applications. However, she was released when Sheikh Hasina's government fell on August 5 in the face of mass upsurge.
