Sheikh Hasina is not dead, Awami League isn't over either: Joy

Commenting that Awami League is the oldest democratic and largest party in Bangladesh, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy said, Sheikh Hasina is not dead, even Awami League is not over. The Awami League made Bangladesh independent. This party cannot be finished.

He said this in a video message published on his Facebook page on Wednesday (August 7).

Claiming that building a new Bangladesh is not possible without Awami League, party president Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy said, Awami League will not go anywhere.

In the video message of 2 minutes and 36 seconds, he said that there is a chaotic situation in Bangladesh now. Vandalism and looting are happening all over the country. Our activists are being attacked. Many were killed. In this situation, Awami League is the oldest Democratic Party in Bangladesh. The Awami League is not dead. The Awami League made the country independent; it is not possible to end the Awami League.

Joy said, I said my family will not do politics again. However, we cannot give up in this situation as our leaders and activists are being attacked.

He said to the party leaders and workers, stand with courage. You are not alone. Bangabandhu's family did not go anywhere. We are with you. We are ready to do whatever is necessary to protect the country and Awami League leaders and workers.

Joy said that Awami League wants a democratic Bangladesh free from militancy and we are ready to discuss with everyone if they eliminate militancy and violence.

He told the activists that Sheikh Hasina is not dead. We didn't go anywhere. Democracy and elections are not possible without the Awami League.
