To stabilize the current situation in the country, the Ganoforum (Montu part) has proposed to change the name and uniform of the police force. At the same time, the party is talking about restoring the confidence of the people by quickly reorganizing the forces.
This proposal was given at a press conference held at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Thursday (August 8). The party organized this conference in the context of the overall situation of the country and to consolidate the blood-stained victory of the students of the country.
The president of the party, Mustafa Mohsin Montu, said that the freedom fighters did not fight for their personal interests. The previous government did what the freedom fighters did not want. The government has stigmatized the freedom fighters by imposing quotas.
Remembering those who were martyred including Abu Sayed in the quota movement, Montu said, Abu Sayed was martyred by giving his chest against discrimination in the same way Noor Hossain was killed. The student society has to take responsibility in the critical moment of the nation.
Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, general secretary of Ganoforum, said that the bloodbath victory of the students against discrimination, misrule, injustice, oppression and torture should be consolidated. The movement to reform the quota system is a logical and anti-discrimination movement of the student society. In the spirit of the liberation war, this movement was formed with the aim of creating a discrimination-free and merit-based country. Later, people from all walks of life including teachers, lawyers, journalists, doctors, engineers, workers actively participated in the students' struggle. The entire nation has been freed from the curse of long misrule by bringing down the monstrous dictatorial Hasina government through struggle.
He also said that this victory of the students is the victory of democracy. A group of miscreants are conspiring to smear black paint on the victory of the student- crowd. In order to stop the brutality and selfishness of the miscreants and vandalism and fire in the houses and places of worship of the religious minorities, extortion and looting in various places, especially the student society and the people should come forward and be vigilant.
At that time, Ganoforum presented 7 proposals to stabilize the country after the fall of the dictatorial government in the people's coup. The proposals are: All the martyrs in the anti-discrimination movement should be declared as national heroes; the families of the martyrs should be provided with adequate compensation and should bear the medical expenses of the injured; an interim government should be formed immediately, consisting of nationally acceptable persons; every constitutional institution, including the judiciary, needs to be overhauled.
Public confidence should be regained through rapid restructuring and activation of the police force, including changing its name and uniform; Opening of all educational institutions, including universities, as well as opening of all dormitories to bring back a fair environment for education in the classroom; Sheikh Hasina, the main planner of the genocide in the anti-discrimination movement, must be brought back from abroad and tried in the International War Crimes Tribunal to ensure the highest punishment and the terrorists of the the then ruling party, including the members of the law and order forces involved in the genocide, must be brought under the law.
