The Awami League has called on the President to protect the country and the nation from unconstitutional and illegal evil forces.
The call was made in a statement sent by Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan on Wednesday (October 23) night.
The statement said that the Awami League believes that the country is going through a deep crisis and a period of extreme fatigue. The advisers of the unconstitutional and illegal so-called interim government are trying to overthrow the constitutional head of the state, the President. According to the constitution, the President is the head of all departments of the state. He is the symbol of the state's sovereignty - the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. During any interim period of the state, the President owns all the powers of the executive and legislative branches except the judicial power. Any attack on the President as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces is considered an attack on the entire armed forces, including the army.
Those who dared to make indecent statements against the President are committing the crime of treason, the Awami League said.
The statement also said that the President has appointed advisers to the interim government though their appointment has no constitutional and legal validity. In such a situation, according to constitutional practice, the President can cancel the appointment of those whom he appointed.
According to the constitution, Dr. Yunus was not sworn in, the statement said, stating that his appointment is completely unconstitutional and illegal. Therefore, Dr. Yunus has no legal and moral right to be in power. Therefore, Dr. Yunus should resign.
The ousted Awami League commented that there is no security for the lives and property of the people of the country.
