The Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has said that Sheikh Hasina's government has deceived the nation and oppressed it.
He made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at the district Jamaat-e-Islami workers' conference held at Baramath in Nilphamari district on Friday (November 8).
He said that a ruler has been ruling the country for almost 15 and half years. Whenever she would say something, the common people would say, 'Oh Hasina, we don't laugh anymore!' She would play with the people, try to provoke them and make them laugh. However, everyone knows today that nothing happened during her rule. These rulers have only deceived the nation, and more importantly, they have tortured people, disappeared them and emptied the chests of thousands of mothers. They have destroyed the homes of thousands of people and committed horrific crimes like genocide. They have filed false cases against the leaders of the opposition and arrested them. Even the offices of other political parties including Jamaat-e-Islami have been sealed.
He further said, this northern region has been neglected for a long time. Jamaat-e-Islami believes that it is our responsibility to repay the debts of the people of this region. We will never ignore the development of the people of North Bengal, we are by their side.
