Around 20 BNP leaders and activists took out a protest procession at the Mazar Gate of the High Court on Thursday (Dec 12) after the Appellate Division rejected bail petition of party chairperson Khaleda Zia in a graft case.
Law enforcers, however, chased and dispersed the demonstrators, and arrested two of them. The identity of the detained could not be known immediately.
Shahbagh police, however, denied arresting anyone from the court area. “We don’t have any information about anyone’s arrest,” Shahbagh police station duty officer Afsana told Barta24.com.
The six-member Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, rejected bail petition of Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
