Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Raushon Ershad has been made chief patron of the Jatiya Party while GM Quader has been elected the chairman and Mashiur Rahma Ranga the secretary general.
The leadership of the main opposition party in parliament was elected through voice vote at its ninth council held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital on Saturday (Dec 28).
Jatiya Party presidium member Sheikh Sirajul Islam, also the chief election commissioner at the council, proposed Raushon’s name as the chief patron while delegates seconded the proposal.
Proposal for making GM Quader the party chairman was also approved by voice vote. Earlier, the council began at 10am through the rendering of the national anthem with Raushon remaining absent at the first session.
