Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has described the Jatiya Party and its founder HM Ershad as two flowers on a same footstalk.
Speaking at the ninth council of the Jatiya Party, the main opposition in parliament, on Saturday (Dec 28) in the capital, he the party has many supporters across the country who are blind to Ershad.
Quader expressed his gratitude to the party for extending support to the Awami League to form government in 1996, since when the two parties are maintaining a natural alliance status.
“The role they (Jatiya Party) are playing as the main opposition party in parliament has brought a new dimension to the parliament,” he said.
Quader greeted the Jatiya Party people on behalf of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of its ninth council.
