The biggest fire accident in the history of the country happened at S Alam Refined Sugar Mill. The water sprayed by the fire service for extinguishing the fire fell into the Karnaphuli river. As a result, some fish become weak after consuming too much sweet water. Mostan Billah Adil, Head of estate of S Alam Group, the leading industrial organization in the country, expressed regret.

He told the media that this is the biggest fire in a sugar mill in the country. No one was prepared for such an accident.

He further said that about 30 dumb trucks are dumping the melted raw sugar at our own place. We are trying our best to prevent raw sugar from entering the river. There is no error in our efforts. Even after this, some of the water sprinkled by the fire service rolled down into the river. We have no choice but to express our sorrow.

On Wednesday (March 6) at noon, it was seen on the ground that several trucks were removing melted sugar from the factory. On the south side of this long north-south sugar mill, molten sugar flows out of the main gate like volcanic lava. These are being removed and taken to S Alam Group's own vacant site, so that there is no harm to the environment.

The fire in the northern part of the warehouse is still burning 48 hours after the fire. The fire service is expressing fear that the wall of the warehouse in the western part will also collapse. As a result, even if the wall collapses, a sand dam is being provided to prevent the fire from spreading.

A team from Dhaka including Fire Service Director Rezaul Karim has been on the spot since Tuesday. They are monitoring the overall situation and giving instructions to the fire service.

The fire service director said the fire at S Alam Group's sugar warehouse is under control. As there is a tin roof on top, water is not working. But we are working as per the plan.

On March 4 at 3:53 PM, a fire broke out in the warehouse of S. Alam Group. Since then, 15 units of fire service have worked in phases. On Wednesday, 10 units of the fire service surrounded the fire as it subsided. It works to prevent the fire from spreading outside.
