Money Launderers Can't Sleep Peacefully: Governor

Money launderers will not be able to sleep peacefully in any country; the new governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Ahsan H. Mansoor said and warned that they will be harassed by domestic law as well as international law.

He said this in a press conference at Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday (August 14).

Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansoor said, those who smuggled out money from Bangladesh, they will not be able to sleep peacefully in any country of the world. In addition to domestic laws, they will also be subjected to international laws.

He said that every effort will be made to bring back the smuggled money.

He also said that inflation will come down to a bearable level in the next five to six months. There are three angles to work in the market. One is the supply chain. That is how we can increase supply by increasing production and thereby bring a positive impact to the market. Secondly, some issues like extortion have come up. These areas need to be worked on. Third is to work on the demand side. Bangladesh Bank is already doing this work and we will review a little more and see if there is more to be done or not.

The central bank governor said, another important thing is that we have a shortage of foreign exchange; there is no point in denying it. That's why we can't import as much as we could. It will have an effect on the market.
