Funding of Japanese projects to continue: Finance Adviser

Stating that funding will continue for the ongoing Japanese projects in the country, Finance and Trade Adviser of the Interim Government, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, there is no question, no ambiguity about them (Japan). Rather, they will negotiate with more projects for the future.

The finance and trade adviser of the interim government gave this information after meeting with Japanese ambassador Iwama Kiminori on Monday (August 19).

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that Japan is a big partner in the development of Bangladesh. They have mainly provided project support for so long. The Japanese ambassador has assured that the projects supported by the country will not be stopped.

He said that Japan wants to reform the business environment in Bangladesh. That will be done.

Stating that Japan has been asked for budget support, the finance advisor said, I said we need budget support, we need money. They said - it is a global context, but they have noted down. They will talk to the authorities. We've been very positive about Japan, there's no question, no ambivalence about them.

He also said that Japan has asked about some reforms in the banking sector, NBR, customs. They want a business environment. I said these are matters of immediate reform. As for the future, I have said that what you are giving now is very good. But I think you will increase the aid. Then he said - we have a global contest, we will convey your request.
