PRAN–RFL is sinking in fraudulency
Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Which is true ? Is embarrassment not leaving the Pran-Rfl group or they are not rectifying themselves rather prefer to be a profit monger organization by deceiving the consumers. This is the opinion of the consumers.
After the revenue scandal also and for supplying adulterated food to the consumers the group is becoming lead news almost every day, the group has involved with import fraud. Declaring as plastic granules the company this time has tried to import cement of high customs duty.
The rate of plastic duty is 32 percent whereas the rate of duty on cement is 91 percent. The Pran group paid Taka 1 croe 42 lakhs for importing plastic granules while they had to pay Taka 4 crore 65 lakhs for customs duty on cement. So they tried to evade Taka 3 crore 23 lakhs import duty.
Chattogram Customs sources informed that on last May 26, 30 consignments reached the port to the address of Pan Diary Limited from Dubai. The importer submitted all the necessary papers to take delivery of their imported goods. In the Chalan it was declared that the consignments contained 510 metric tons of plastic granules worth five lakh 66 thousand dollars.
Due to Eid holidays the importer tried to take delivery of the consignments on the night of June 6. At this time while opening two containers cement bags were found there. After wards the containers were locked and delivery was stopped. After the Eid holiday was over the containers were physically examined.
After physical check it was found that the consignment contains cement bags of Jebel Ali brand of Saudi Arabia. Each bag contained 50 kgs. cement. In each container there were 340 bags of cement so the 30 containers have 510 metric tons of cement filled in 10 thousand 250 bags. The rate of customs duty on plastic granules is 32 percent while on cement is 91 percent. The delivery order of the consignment has been stopped. Cases will be filed against the importer. The Customs authority also informed that the cement will be chemically examined.
Manager(Communication) Towhiduzzaman of Pran –Rfl group has admitted the seizure of consignments. He said that the Saudi company has done fraud with us. We placed orders for importing Resin(plastic granules). But deceiving us they had sent cement. We are not at fault for this.
Speaking on the matter the Assistant General Manager of Public Relations department of Pran – Rfl group Ziaul Haque told Barta24.com that we had earlier ordered GPG Middle East General Trading Company of UAE to send 510 metric tons plastic resin. Accordingly they sent 30 containers to Chattogram port through Everbest Logistics limited.
He said that on last June 1 after customs formalities while taking delivery we came to learn that the bags contained cement instead of plastic granules. Instantly we informed all concerned in writing including the Chattogram Customs authority, shipping line, supplier, Port authority for taking necessary actons in this regard. We requested the Mutual Trust Bank to cancel the LC payment. As the LC was opened as 180 days deferred payment, so there was no transaction in this connection.
