Importance of regional stability in Uzra Zeya’s visit to India
Visiting US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya discussed regional stability and civilian security during a meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
After the meeting, Zeya tweeted, "Delighted to meet Foreign Secretary @AMB VM Kwatra again. Grateful for the important #USIndia partnership and efforts to advance a free and open Indo-Pacific, regional stability and civilian security.
Senior US diplomat Zeya later met Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary (West) Sanjay Verma. She discussed the US-India partnership on global and regional issues and cooperation between the two countries.
She said, I had a fruitful discussion with Secretary (West) @Sanjay Verma IFC during my visit to New Delhi. Thank you for your continued partnership in addressing global and regional challenges. US-India cooperation is essential to our highest priorities and to a peaceful and prosperous world.
Besides meeting top Indian diplomats, the US Under Secretary also interacted with members of the US-India Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Council on Civil Society.
In a separate tweet shortly after the meeting, Zeya said, "Our missions integrate DEIA into our foreign policy and programs. . . ."
US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights and US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Affairs Uzra Zeya arrived here on Sunday on the first leg of a six-day official visit to India and Bangladesh.
Before the visit to India, the US State Department said in a statement that the Under Secretary will meet with senior officials of the government during his visit to Bangladesh.
