Gaza hospital airstrikes: At least 500 killed
Israeli airstrikes hit a hospital in Gaza killing at least 500 people. Al Jazeera reported this information on Tuesday night (October 17) quoting the Ministry of Health of Gaza.
According to reports, at least 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahlil Arab Baptist Hospital in the center of Gaza City.
Al-Ahli Arab Hospital is in the heart of Gaza City and the hospital is managed by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.
The hospital was full of patients at the time of the attack and many Palestinians had taken shelter there to escape the Israeli attack.
Earlier, the UN refugee agency UNRWA reported that at least six people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school. Displaced Palestinians have been using the school building as a shelter for the past few days. Most of those killed in the attack on the hospital were displaced residents of Gaza. Hoping for safety, they took shelter in a hospital hall and outside grounds.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced three days of mourning in the country due to the huge loss of life in the hospital. Besides, in view of this incident, the pre-scheduled meeting with US President Joe Biden has been cancelled. Biden and Abbas were scheduled to meet in Jordan on Wednesday.
It should be noted that 3,000 people have died so far in the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
