Sheikh Hasina did not resign: Joy

Sheikh Hasina did not resign: Joy

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country in the face of the student uprising. However, after five days, her son Sajeeb Wazed said that Sheikh Hasina did not officially resign from the post of Prime Minister. She did not get that time.

Reuters published the report based on the interview of Sajeeb Wazed Joy at around 2 pm on Friday (August 9). He spoke to Reuters from Washington, USA.

In the interview, Joy said, 'My mother wanted to resign after making a statement to the countrymen. But at this time the agitators left for Ganabhavan. She didn't even have time to pack her bags. As far as I know, according to the constitution, she is still the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Joy said that even though the Prime Minister has not officially resigned, the process of forming the interim government can be challenged in court. Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus took oath as the chief adviser of the interim government last Thursday after Sheikh Hasina left. The term of this government is yet to be determined. However, Joy wants to see elections in Bangladesh within the next three months where Awami League will also participate.

Joy also said, 'I am confident that Awami League will come to power. Otherwise, we will be the opposition party. Either way will be fine. I was happy to hear Khaleda Zia's speech. Let us forget the past. We should not do politics of revenge. Whether there is a united government or not, we have to work together.

He said, 'I am interested in working together with BNP to restore democracy and democratic elections in Bangladesh. We must work with them to ensure that we have a peaceful democracy with free and fair elections. I believe that dialogue is very important in politics. We can argue, agree to disagree and always find a compromise.'

If Awami League wants, Joy will think about becoming the Prime Ministerial candidate in the next election, 'My mother would have retired from politics at the end of this term. If the party wants me, I will definitely take that into consideration.

According to the information provided by Reuters, the number of people killed in the movement is about 300 people. That's why the students demanded that Sheikh Hasina be brought under justice. Joy said, "My mother was never afraid of the threat of arrest before." My mother did nothing wrong. Just because people in her government did illegal things, it doesn't mean they did it on my mother's orders. This does not mean that my mother is responsible for all this. Those responsible for this should be brought to justice. My mother did not order anyone to do violence against the protesters. The police tried to contain the violence but some police officers used excessive force.
