Three confess their involvement in the attack incident on UNO Wahida
Three people have confessed their guilt to attacking Ghortaghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali Sheikh at her official residence in the night of September 2. Three of those arrested and detained from different places on Thursday night pleaded guilty during interrogation by the RAB.
RAB-13 operations officer Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed the matter to reporters on Friday (September 4).
He said that three of the arrested and detainees have confessed their involvement in the attack on UNO and her father in a case filed by UNO’s brother.
Details of their identities and the cause of the attack will be revealed at a press briefing at 7pm, the RAB official said.
Earlier in the day, law enforcement agency men detained six people in connection with the attack on UNO. Meanwhile, Juba League leader Asadul Haque and Ghoraghat Upazila Juba League convener Jahangir Alam have been arrested. Four others have also been detained for questioning.
The arrested are Masud Rana, 40, son of Golam Mostafa Adur of Dakshin Debipur village, Nahid Hossain Palash, 38, Nabirul Islam, 35, son of late Faraz Uddin of Chakbamunia Bishwanathpur area and Santu Chandra Das, 26, son of Khoka of the same area. .
Among them, Palash is the night guard of the residence of UNO and Masud Rana is the president of Singra Union Juba League of Ghoraghat upazila.
Meanwhile, Dinajpur District Juba League has suspended Asadul and Jahangir from the Juba League for their alleged involvement in the attack.
