‘We are capable to face the second wave of Corona’
Health Minister Zahid Malek said, "I don't know when the second wave of Corona will come, but we have made all kinds of preparations to deal with it."
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on 'Corona Second Wave and Preparation' organized by Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (October 6).
Zahid Malek said, if the hygiene rules are followed properly, the second wave will not come in our country. But we are ready to deal with it if it comes. This is because the incidence of all diseases increases slightly in winter. Why are we talking about coronavirus in the beginning, no country in the world was experienced. Corona has engulfed the entire world, another virus has failed. Not only us but no one in the world knew what the cure was. Now the context is different. Before we had one lab, now it's 107 running round the clock. PPE crisis was not there now.
"We hope it doesn't grow," he said. We are to follow the hygiene rules properly. However, the number of tests has decreased because people do not come to take the test now. We always ask you to test. We are calling for this all the time. And we have no shortage of drugs. There were still enough of us medicine all the time.
The minister further said that people are now getting courage to go for treatment. The wheel of the economy has also started running. All kinds of business establishments have been opened. We are also getting orders for products from outside countries.
Regarding vaccines, the minister said, "We are in touch with the companies that are making vaccines. We have taken measures." In fact, Bangladesh will get it in their vaccine market.
State Minister for Disaster and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman said in his eech said that in all the countries where the corona infection was reduced, it is being re-infected. In the beginning not only Bangladesh but the whole world was unprepared. However, corona is not an unknown disease to us now. We are working under the direction of the Prime Minister.
"With the capabilities we have acquired, we will be able to deal with the second wave of corona," he said. So there is nothing to be afraid of with the second wave of Corona. The hospitals now have 20,000 beds ready. The PPE crisis is over.
