Banks & garments will remain open even in strict lockdown
A week-long nationwide strict lockdown will begin on Monday (June 28), partially, and next Thursday (July 1) to curb the rise in coronavirus infections. However, even in this severe lockdown, garment factories as well as banks and financial institutions will remain open.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the Home Minister on Saturday (June 26) evening.
According to meeting sources, Bangladesh Bank will decide the transaction time schedule of the bank. And the capital market regulator has said that if the bank is open, the stock market will also be open. Even if the public transport is closed, the transport of goods will continue as usual.
Principal Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarkar told Barta24.com on Saturday (June 26) night that there would be a partial lockdown from Monday to Wednesday. And from Thursday (July 1) there will be a complete lockdown for 7 days.
Regarding the office-court being open, he said that the office-court will remain partially open during the lockdown.
Regarding the opening of the garment factory in Lockdown, BKMEA vice-president Mohammad Hatem said, "During corona pandemic in the garment factories hygiene rules are followed in an orderly manner from the very beginning." The matter has been praised at the meeting. The lockdown, which starts on Thursday, will also keep the garment factory and other industries open on the condition of strict adherence to hygiene rules.
