Trawler capsize in Dhaleshwari: none could be rescued so far
The missing persons could not be rescued even three days after the trawler sank in Dhaleshwari river in Narayanganj. The sunken trawler was also not found. The relatives of the missing have reacted angrily.
A passenger trawler sank after being hit by an MV Farhan-6 launch in Dhaleshwari river at Dharmaganj Ghat in Fatulla at 8:30 am on Wednesday on January 5. At first 8 people were missing in this incident but now the number of missing is 10 people including women and children.
Upon receiving the news, the rescue operation started on the same day by the Fire Service and Civil Defense, BIWTA, Naval Police and Coast Guard of the Navy. After three days of searching, no trawler or missing person was found. Angry waiting relatives could not find a single one in three days.
Abdullah, 22, son of Idris Ali of Niamatpur area of Kishoreganj, Motaleb, 42, son of Roksat Ali of North Gopalnagar area of Fatullah and Sabbir, 18, wife of the same family of Raju Sarkar of Charbaktabali are still missing. Jasmine Akhter (30) and her two daughters Tasmin Akhter, Tasfia Akhter and son Tamim (2), Muazzin Abdullah of North Gopal Nagar Mosque and Hawker Shamsuddin (65) are still missing.
Relatives gathered on the both sides of the river in search of the missing. They want to get the beloved person back by repeatedly shouting. They alleged rescue workers are not doing their job properly. If properly done it would withstand a great deal of adverse conditions. Why so much delay?
Meanwhile, rescue workers said the rescue operation is being delayed for several reasons. The rescue operation is being delayed as the mouth of the two rivers, the depth of the river, the depth of the river and the place of the accident have not been identified.
Meanwhile, Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Arefin said they were continuing the rescue operation. There is no shortage of effort. However, he could not see the face of success because of the estuary of the two rivers. The fire service official said rescue operations would resume on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the district administration has formed a seven-member investigation committee headed by Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer to find out the cause of the trawler sinking. Three people, including MV Farhan-6 launch master Kamrul Hasan, have been arrested in a case filed by BIWTA. They have been sent to court for five days remand. Their remand hearing will be held next Sunday.
