BNP will not want the country to be destroyed, believes the foreign minister
Foreign Minister commented that the conspiracy of foreigners will not work to destroy Bangladesh. AK Abdul Momen said, I believe that even the BNP will not want the country to be destroyed.
He said these things while talking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (August 16).
The foreign minister said, we are in a strong position. If you are in a strong position, the intrigues of foreigners will not help. And if we countrymen are united, no conspiracy will work here.
Conspiracy is useful where there is internal conflict, he said. There is very little internal conflict in our country. So nothing will happen here. We don't want to destroy the country. And the BNP will not want the country to be destroyed.
Referring to Afghanistan, Syria and Libya, the minister said that where these (internal conflicts) have taken place, they have brought misfortune to the people. The BNP will not want it. We believe they will also come in a democratic process. If they believe in democracy, surely they will try the democratic process.
Pointing out that BNP will understand their past mistakes; the minister said that in the 2018 elections two to three candidates contested for one seat of BNP. Now they will understand their mistake. They should place one candidate for one seat. Then their position will be better. If they believe in democracy, they will participate in the election process. Dr. Momen also commented that this year's parliamentary elections will be transparent and beautiful.
Commenting on a recent report of India's Hindustan Times, Momen said, "I don't think so." I can't say that. Ground reality is, BNP holds big meetings. I heard that they give money; people come
In response to a question about the conspiracy of foreigners, the foreign minister said, you (the journalist who asked the question) do not need to worry about the conspiracy of foreigners. We are moving forward.
