Govt. working actively to counter propaganda: Foreign Ministry
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen recently directed the Bangladesh Missions abroad to take appropriate steps to prevent misinformation against Bangladesh and the government ahead of the upcoming national elections.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sehli Sabreen told this to reporters at the weekly press conference on Thursday (August 17).
She said, we think we have to work more proactively. Because there may be more ill campaigning before the election. She also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working on this issue for a long time.
Sabreen said, a committee consisting of three ministries, Information, Law and Foreign Affairs is working.
In a discussion last week, experts stressed on pragmatic and effective steps to counter anti-Bangladesh propaganda and efforts to undermine the country's achievements.
They stressed on identifying the sources from which disinformation and anti-Bangladesh propaganda is being spread and countering it with appropriate counter-efforts based on information.
The exchange program organized at the Foreign Service Academy was conducted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen.

Foreign Minister Momen also introduced Ferdowsi Shahriar in the meeting who will head a cell of election observers.
Sehli Sabreen said while talking to the journalists at the press conference on Thursday (August 17) that a special cell has been formed for the convenience of foreign observers in the upcoming JS elections.
She said, if anyone is interested in monitoring the upcoming elections, the cell will be contacted. The next national elections are scheduled to be held in December this year or January 2024.
She said, for the convenience of any observer, we will follow our own laws and the rules of the Election Commission. She added that they have not yet received any request from any person or organization to focus on three places: London, Brussels and Washington DC. There is an opportunity to work there.
