The US Embassy has again explained the visa policy
Last Friday (September 22), the United States State Department announced in a statement that it would impose visa restrictions on those who would disrupt the democratic election process in Bangladesh. This time, the US Embassy in Dhaka explained the ban on their own Facebook page.
On Monday (September 25), the organization gave this explanation, quoting Ambassador Haas.
We are applying the (visa ban) policy in a balanced manner against anyone involved in undermining the country's democratic electoral process, whether pro-government, opposition parties, members of the law enforcement agencies, members of the judiciary or even members of the media, the statement said.
During an interview at the office of a private TV channel on Sunday (September 24), US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas said that after the government party, the opposition party and the law enforcement agencies, the media will also be involved in the visa policy in the future. Anyone from Bangladesh can become a victim of the US visa policy due to negative role and behavior. He said that their role in free-fair-neutral elections is being observed.
After this, the issue of visa policy came up for discussion again. A day later, the embassy explained Peter Haas' statement.
Earlier, the United States announced a new visa policy for Bangladesh on May 24. It is said that if anyone obstructs the democratic election process in Bangladesh, he will not get a US visa. Even his family members will be denied US visas.
