Any day the announcement of the schedule of the 12th national parliament election may come. The BNP-led alliance has announced boycotting the election on the demand of the care taker government. The continuous program including strike and blockade is continuing to realize the demand. On the other hand, the main opposition party in the Jatiyo Sangsad(JS) has not clarified its position so far. The chairman of the party has been saying that they will participate if the environment for the election is created. They have no say in care taker questions.
In an event on June 11, GM Quader said, we do not consider any change by keeping the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her place as a change. It doesn't matter who is in the cabinet or how many members are there or not in the parliament. An impartial election is not possible with power in the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In an event on October 4, Jatiya Party chairman said, we are now in the election process. We still don't know what the situation will be in the country. But when the time comes, I will decide whether to participate in the election or not. When the time comes, a decision will be taken considering the situation of the country. An official announcement will be made then. As long as I have not announced, I am in the process of selection. I am asking the leaders to be ready.
A meeting of the Jatiya Party's highest policy-making forum has empowered the party chairman to decide on election questions. He can decide whatever he likes.
