Merry Christmas today

The most important and major religious festival of Christians today is 'Merry Christmas'.

On Monday (December 25), Christians in Bangladesh, like other countries around the world, celebrate the day with due religious solemnity and rituals, revelry and prayers.

On this occasion, the religious institutions of Christians all over the country, including the capital Dhaka, have been decorated in a new style. Also, lighting arrangements have been made in various churches and star hotels from Sunday evening. Besides, prayers have been organized on this day and night as well.

It is known that Jesus Christ, the founder of this religion, was born on December 25 in Bethlehem. Christians celebrate this day as 'Merry Christmas'. People of the Christian community believe that Lord Jesus came to earth to lead mankind to the path of truth and justice by preaching the glory of God.

On the occasion of this biggest festival of Christians, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages.


President Md. Shahabuddin said in the speech the essence of religion is to serve people as people. All religions talk about human welfare. Therefore, regardless of caste, everyone should work for the welfare of the country and people. Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony.

The President said that Christians around the world celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ as 'Christmas' with due dignity and religious solemnity. According to Christianity, Jesus Christ was the seeker of truth, the savior of mankind and the guide of light.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that our constitution, drafted by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has ensured the equality of people of all religions and castes. We believe religion is for everyone, festivals are for all. The development of people of all classes and professions is our main goal. To achieve this goal, we are working to ensure a dignified and safe life for the people of all communities.

Monday is a public holiday on the occasion of Christmas. In addition to lighting in star hotels of the capital, Christmas trees and Santa Clauses have been artificially placed inside. Christmas prayer will start from 9 am.
