Smart Election App gives polling information on your handheld device: EC
The Election Commission (EC) launched an app named 'Smart Election Management BD' to provide the information about election in one platform.
Nearly two months before the Election Day this app was activated on November 12, 2023.
Through this app, any individual voter can find out his/her voter number, vote center name and location.
Basic polling information like number of voters vote count rate, candidates' information and analyze the comparative picture of the election.
The app can be downloaded from both Android and Apple Play stores.
Google Play Store says it has been downloaded more than 100,000 times so far.
On Friday (January 5) Election Commission (EC) Secretary. Jahangir Alam said that the app, called Smart Election Management BD, will let us know the rate of polling every two hours.
Any individual user can know voter’s polling station information now, which is the polling station and what is the location, he said..
In response to a question, the EC Secretary said, "Centralized results will not be available, but center based results will be available."
Because, if for some reason the results cannot be sent from hilly areas or remote areas like Manpura, there may be a discrepancy in the percentage of votes, Jahangir Alam added.
“20 percent polling stations are still out of network. We will use BGB, police wireless network there.'
After installing the app on the phone, various statistics or comparative pictures, including poll results, laws and regulations, list of registered parties, list of seat-wise candidates, vote count rate, number of seats won by any party will be available. Apart from this, the previous election information will also be available through this app.
To use the app, you have to register with National Identity Card number, date of birth and mobile number. Later, to know the name of the center, location of the center, voter number, name and photo of candidates etc., the national identity card number and date of birth need to be inserted to get access.
The 12th National Parliament election will be held on January 7. There are a total of 1,970 competing candidates with 28 parties and independents in this election. 90 women candidates and 79 ethnic minority candidates are contesting in it.
In this election, the total number of voters across the country is 11 crore 96 lakh. Among them there are 1 crore 54 lakh new voters. Among the total voters, male voters are 6 crore 76 lakh and female voters are 5 crore 89 lakh. And there are 849 voters of the third gender.
