People go to India after loosing confidence in country's health system: Health Minister

 

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen has commented that people do not have confidence in the country's health system and said, that is why people of the country are going to India and Bangkok for treatment.

We need to restore confidence, he affirmed.

The Health Minister was responding to the questions from journalists at a briefing organized in the conference room of the Ministry of Health at the secretariat on Sunday (January 28).

In response to a question about the mismanagement of the health sector, the newly appointed technocrat minister said, it is not possible to change anything overnight. People are choosing other countries because there is no trust in country’s treatment. On the other hand People coming from Rangpur to Dhaka means lack of confidence on health system over there. So, the trust must be restored.

To bring it back we have to work at the grass root level, which I have just started, said the renowned physician.

“I have to give more time. i am trying, I know I won’t be able to achieve 100%, but I'll try.”

The health minister said that illegal clinics and hospitals cannot continue in any way. These clinics and hospitals are being listed, action will be taken against them soon.

Regarding the death of baby Ayaan, Samanta Lal Sen said that the investigation report identifying the responsible person/s for this incident has been submitted to the High Court. Action will be taken based on the direction of the court.

The cooperation of the World Health Organization has been sought in production of vaccines in Bangladesh and a delegation of them will visit Bangladesh in March, Dr Samanta Lal said while responding another question from a journalist.
